Pioneering Waste-to-Energy Innovations Since 1986
Transforming waste into sustainable energy solutions across 35+ countries for over 40 years.
The Company :
Who We Are
Ankur Scientific began in 1986 with a simple idea that waste should never be wasted. Founded by Dr. B. C. Jain, a gold medalist from BITS Pilani and an MIT-trained technocrat, the company started its journey designing small biomass gasifiers for rural energy needs.
Nearly four decades later, that spark has grown into a global mission to transform every kind of waste, from municipal solid waste and chicken litter to palm residues and EFB, into clean energy and valuable resources.

Our Journey
The company's products are marketed in more than 35 countries the world over. The indigenously developed technology
The Genesis of Innovation
Ankur Scientific was born in 1986 out of Dr. B. C. Jain’s vision to turn agricultural waste into clean energy. These pioneering years saw India’s first biomass gasifiers designed and built for process heat and dual-fuel power generation. The small but determined team laid the scientific foundation for what would become decades of innovation—proving that indigenous technology could power industries and villages alike, sustainably and efficiently.
Scaling Boundaries
This decade marked Ankur’s transition from national innovator to global player. Systems grew in size and sophistication—up to 1000 kg/hr—serving industries across continents. The company’s 100 % producer-gas engine plants became a benchmark for reliability and low emissions. By the mid-2000s, Ankur’s name had reached Asia, Africa, and Latin America, carrying forward India’s reputation for frugal, effective engineering.
The R&D Decade
As the world looked toward renewable solutions, Ankur deepened its R&D focus. These years brought breakthroughs in coal and lignite gasifiers, pyro-gasifiers, and biochar generators. The company engineered dry gas cleaning, high-moisture gasification, and hot-air systems to enhance efficiency. The decade culminated with the Omni Processor—a revolutionary fecal-sludge-to-energy system developed with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, redefining waste treatment for emerging nations
Towards a Carbon-Neutral Future
Ankur entered its fourth decade as a global leader in waste-to-energy, carbon sequestration, and green fuels. Commercial installations for MSW and sludge in India and Bangladesh proved that local waste can power cities. Continuous innovation produced high-efficiency cyclones, mist eliminators, and ultra-clean gas systems. In 2024, Ankur stepped into Green Hydrogen production from biomass, and by 2025, into Activated Carbon from biochar—completing the cycle of Waste → Energy → Carbon.p>
